Learning from Saul Baeza while walking through L'Hospitalet and learning about his projects
Part of this seminar in which we went and walked around L'Hospitalet and learned about the environment and different projects Saul has worked on.
Discovering L'Hospitalet
The stroll through Hospitalet we saw hidden studios and towering buildings. It was interesting for me to see how local designers, artisans and companies have moved, since the end of the car boom. Lots of the infrastructure was made during the early 1900s to make place for people coming to work in Barcelona. It was also nice to see that Saul seemed to know people in the local communities and seemed willing to help facilitate connections within this community.
Learning about Saul's Work
Saul's projects shed light on the dual nature of technology, from voluntary surveillance to the ethical implications of corporate data access. The fusion of physical prosthetics with digital functionalities showcased the transformative potential of innovation.
Reflecting on Future Talk 3.1
First future talk of this term and it was nice to see how Saul explained not only the history of L'Hospitalet but also what has happened since. I had not known much about this in the past but the way it was shown now allowed me to visualize it a bit better.
For me the most interesting part of this talk was seeing how Saul was able to combined technology and humans in his design. I especially liked the design talking about use of AI bot in museums, as it is similar to what Oliver and I are aiming to do with our thesis. It raised a few interesting questions about the way people interact with each other and other aspects of life through AI's and what this technology can offer in terms of altering behavior.
